With an objective to improve access, equity and quality in higher education, the RUSA Cell of the college has been actively working to introduce transformative reforms for the betterment of the institution. A preparatory grant was provided by the Department of Higher Education, U.T.Administration, Chandigarh in the month of October for conducting various activities on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), UGC (NET) coaching, remedial coaching classes, training, etc. The following activities were organized by the Cell during the session:

  • Under the supervision of Dr. Mukesh Chauhan, Assistant Professor of Commerce, a seven-day workshop was organized for the college and university teachers of the tri-city on “Research through SPSS” from Dec. 21-27, 2015 and the basic structure of SPSS and research methodology was discussed.The workshop was attended by 43 teachers of different streams.
  • UGC (NET) Capsule Coaching Courses were organized twice during the session (from Dec. 21-26, 2015 and again from Feb.- March 2016) for the students of M.Com, under the supervision of Dr. Surinder Kaur, Assistant Professor of Commerce.The course aimed at the improvement of academic skills and proficiency of the students willing to qualify National Eligibility Test.
  • One-day National Conference on the topic “Ethics and Social Responsibility in the Context of Indian Higher Education and Research” was conducted on Jan.30, 2016. More than 100 delegates from various parts of the country participated and presented their research articles which were later published in an edited book with ISBN No. 978-81-929260-1-8.
  • A seven day Capacity Building Programme (under Faculty Development Programme) was organized from March 04-10, 2016 on the theme “Advanced Applications of SPSS in Research” with an aim to acquaint the teachers of different colleges and universities with the know-how of conducting various types of research in their respective fields, to guide doctoral or postgraduate students in their research work, to enrich their profiles by writing different research papers for journals of high repute, for understanding different types of data that needs to be considered in different research problems and for understanding the various assumptions of univariate and multivariate tests. The workshop was attended by 31 college and university teachers of different streams.
  • One-day Training Programme on “Service and Financial Rules: Revision and Updation” was organized for the college/university faculty and ministerial staff on March 19, 2016. The programme was attended by 54 officials of different institutions (teaching and non-teaching). The officials were addressed by the DCFA and ACFA, U.T. Administration, Chandigarh.
