Activities 2015-16

In the arena of sports, the students stretch the limits of their endurance in order to stand on the victory podium. The college has excelled in many sports disciplines at different levels.The college team participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship in various events-Athletics, Ball-Badminton, Boxing, Baseball, Cricket, Kho-Kho, Football, Handball, Judo, Lawn-Tennis, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Squash, Softball, Taekwondo, Yoga etc.

Athletics
The college students participated in Panjab University Inter-College Championship held from Nov.27-30, 2015 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

BOXING
The college Boxing team participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Sept. 17-18, 2015 at the Sports Complex, Sector- 42, Chandigarh and the team of boys also participated in the State Championship held at S. D. College, Sector- 32, Chandigarh. Balram of B Com I and Ankit of BA I secured Bronze Medal.

BASEBALL
The college Baseball team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Jan. 14-17, 2016 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

CRICKET
The college Cricket team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Oct. 28 to Nov. 4, 2015, at D.A.V. College, Sector -10, Chandigarh.

FOOTBALL
The college Football team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3, 2015, at G.H.G.K.H. College, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana.

HANDBALL
The college Handball team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Sept. 24-26, 2015 at the Sports Complex, Sector-24, Chandigarh.

JUDO
The college Judo team of girls participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Oct. 5- 6, 2015 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

KHO-KHO
The college Kho-Kho team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held on Nov.16, 2015 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

LAWN TENNIS
The college Lawn-Tennis team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held on Oct. 12, 2015 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS
The college Rhythmic Gymnastics team of girls participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held on Sept.16, 2015 at D.A.V. College, Sector- 10, Chandigarh.

SOFTBALL
The college Softball team of girls participated in the North Zone Softball Championship held at PEC University of Technology, Sector- 12, Chandigarh in October 2015. Santosh, BAII and Manpreet, BA III were selected in North Zone Softball Chandigarh Team. The college Softball Team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Nov. 19-23, 2015 at S.G.G.S. College, Sector -26, Chandigarh.

SQUASH
The college Squash team of girls participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held on Oct. 5, 2015, at Lake Sports Complex, Chandigarh.

TAEKWONDO

• The college Taekwondo team of boys participated in the Senior State Championship held from Aug. 9-10, 2015 at Chandigarh.
• The college Taekwondo team of girls also participated in the Senior State Championship held from Aug. 9-10, 2015 at Chandigarh.
• The college Taekwondo team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Jan. 14-16, 2016 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Vikram Singh Negi and Shahrukh Khan, B.A. III won the Silver Medal and Bronze Medal respectively.
• The college Taekwondo team of girls participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Jan. 14-16, 2016 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Jasween Kaur, BA III won a Gold Medal and was selected for the Inter-University camp.

BALL BADMINTON

• The college Ball Badminton team of boys participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Oct. 15-16, 2015 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Vikas of BA II was selected for participation in Inter-University Camp held at Hyderabad.
• The college Ball Badminton team of girls participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Oct.17-18, 2015 at M.C.M. D.A.V. College, Sector- 36, Chandigarh.
• The college Ball Badminton team of boys and girls participated in the State Ball Badminton Championship held from Dec. 30-31, 2015 at S. D. College, Sector-32, Chandigarh. The team of girls secured the third position in the Championship. Santosh of BA II was selected for All India State Ball Badminton Championship. The college Ball Badminton team was selected for a championship held at Allahabad and won 03 Gold Medals and 04 Silver Medals.

YOGA
The college Yoga team of boys & girls participated in the P.U. Inter-College Championship held from Jan. 20-21, 2016 at Panjab University, Chandigarh and State Yoga Championship, Chandigarh held from Oct. 16-17, 2015 at Govt. College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector -23 A, Chandigarh.

ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET
Our college organized 34th Annual Athletic Meet on Feb.17, 2016. The students of the college participated in varied athletic events. Recreational activities were also organized for teaching staff, non-teaching staff and Class-IV employees. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Exams, Panjab University, Chandigarh, gave away the prizes to the winners. Deepak and Santosh, BA I were declared the best athlete in boys and girls category respectively.

The department of Physical Education organized Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior State Yoga competitions in the College campus. On the occasion of National Sports Day, an Intra-Mural Football Tournament was organized among the different streams of the College and the students of BA-I were declared winners. Throughout the session, our students actively participated in various competitions held at State and National level bringing laurels to the College both individually and also as a team. The College participated in as many as 21 Inter-College tournaments namely: Athletics, Ball Badminton, Boxing, Baseball, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Gatka, Judo, Kabaddi (P.S & N.S), Kayaking, Kho-Kho, Lawn Tennis, Softball, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Wrestling and Yoga etc. The highlights of the achievements of the students are:

Athletics
The College Athletic Teams of both boys and girls participated in Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 17th to 20th Nov.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Both the College Athletic Teams also participated in Senior State Athletics Championship held in Oct.’14. Baljeet Kaur of B.Com III won Gold Medal in 5000 metres and got selected for Senior National Athletic championship, Rajat Kotoch of B.A. II won the Bronze Medal in High Jump, Ashu Kumar of B.A.I won Silver Medal in Long Jump and Bronze Medal in Triple Jump and also bagged the fourth position in Long Jump in Panjab University Inter College Championship.
Ball Badminton
The College Ball Badminton Team of boys participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 24th to 25th Nov.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. They bagged fourth position in Inter-College tournament. Amit Yadav of B.A.III and Vikas of B.A. I got selected for Panjab University Camp. Amit Yadav of B.A. III also participated in All India Inter University Ball Badminton Tournaments held at Chennai from 22nd to 25th Dec.’14. The College Ball Badminton Team of girls participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 26th to 27th Nov.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. They got Fourth Position in Inter-College tournament. Himanshi Negi of B. Com. III, Anju Saini of B.A. III and Rena Kumari of B.A. III got selected in Panjab University Team and participated in All India Inter University Ball Badminton Tournament held from 26th to 30th Dec.’14 at Chennai. The College Ball Badminton Team of both boys & girls participated in the State Ball Badminton Championship held from 29th to 30th Nov.’14 at SD College-32, Chandigarh. The teams got Fourth Position in State Ball Badminton Championship. Himanshi Negi of B. Com-III, Amit Yadav of B.A. III got selected in Chandigarh National Team and participated in National Ball Badminton Tournament held at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from 7th to 11th Jan.’14.
Boxing
The College Boxing Team of girls participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 15th to 17th Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Base Ball
The College Baseball Team of girls participated in Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 11th to 14th Sept.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The College girls’ Baseball Team participated in Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 15th to 18th Sept.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. It would not be out of place to mention that Himanshi Negi of B.Com. III had also got selected for Camp Inter University Team.

Cricket
The College Cricket Team of boys participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 19th to 27th Sept.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Jaspreet Singh of B.A. III got selected for Camp Inter University Team.
Football
The College Football Team of boys participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 2nd to 7th Nov.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Judo
The College Judo Team of girls participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 5th to 6th Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Kabaddi (National Style)
The College Kabaddi (National Style) Team of boys participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 21st to 22nd Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Kabaddi (Punjabi Style)
The College Kabaddi (Punjabi Style) Team of boys participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 10th to 13th Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Kho-Kho
The College Kho-Kho Team of boys participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 22nd to 24th Sept.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The College girls’ Kho-Kho Team participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 9th to 10th Sept.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The girls of the College participated in Senior State Kho-Kho Championship held from 19th to 20th Oct.’14 at GMSSS Sector-56, Chandigarh. Binita of B.A.-I got selected for Chandigarh National Team and participated in National Kho-Kho Tournaments held at Bangalore in Jan.’14.
Lawn Tennis
The College Lawn-Tennis Team of boys participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 28 to 30 Sept.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Rhythmic Gymnastics
The College Rhythmic Gymnastics Team of girls participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held on 21 Oct.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Neetu Saini of B.A.I won the Bronze Medal and selected for Camp Panjab University Team and participated in All India Inter University Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournaments held at LNUPE (Gwalior) in Dec.’14.
Softball
The boys & girls of the College participated in North Zone Soft Ball Championship held at GMSS Sector- 23, Chandigarh in Oct.’14. Binita of BA-I, Santosh of B.A.-I and Sapana of B.A- I got selected for National Softball Chandigarh Team and girls’ team won second position. The College Boys’ Softball Team participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 22nd to 25th Jan.’15 and also from 26th to 29th Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Taekwondo
The College Taekwondo Team of girls participated in Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 7th to 9th Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Jasween Kaur of BA I and Anju Saini of BA III won Silver Medal and got selected for Inter University Team Camp. The girls team of the College participated in Senior State Championship held from 9 to 10 Aug.’14 at Skating Ring Sector-10, Chandigarh.
The College Taekwondo Team of boys participated in Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 9th to 11th Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Vikram Singh Negi of B.A. II won Gold Medal and selected for Camp of Inter University Team.
Wrestling
The College Wrestling Team of both boys & girls participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 22nd to 23rd Nov.’14 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Yoga
The boys & girls of the College participated in the Panjab University Inter College Championship held from 12th to 13th Jan.’15 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The boys & girls of the College participated in The State Yoga Championship Chandigarh held from 21st to 22nd Nov.’14 at Post Graduate Government College Sector-46, Chandigarh. Furthermore, Geeta of B.A.III participated in National Yoga Championship held from 26 to 29 Dec.’14 at Hyderabad.
Annual Athletic Meet (2014-2015)
33rd Annual Athletic Meet was organized on 06th Feb.’15. Dr. Gurjit Kaur Mander, Principal, of the College inaugurated the function. The College students participated in athletic events like sprinting events, Throws, Jumps and Gymkhana events. Recreational activities were organized for Teaching, Non-Teaching and Class-IV employees. Ms. Kanwal Thakar Singh was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners. Mr. Amit Yadav of B.A-III and Ms. Himanshi Negi of B.Com III were declared the Best Athlete in boys and girls category respectively.
